R.E. Jewell’s Vision for an Inclusive Space

At R.E. Jewell, we believe that every child deserves a place to play, explore, and connect. That’s why we’re on a mission to build a new, inclusive playground—one that welcomes all students, sparks creativity, and strengthens our community. Play is more than just fun; it’s how kids learn, grow, and build relationships. Our new playground will be a space where every child, regardless of ability, can feel like they belong.
A Playground for Every Child
Imagine a playground where no child has to sit on the sidelines. That’s our goal. Our new design will ensure that students with mobility challenges, sensory needs, or temporary injuries can still be part of the fun. From ramps and adaptive swings to sensory-friendly elements, we’re creating a space where everyone can join in. No barriers, no exclusions—just play.
Safety Meets Adventure
Kids need the freedom to run, climb, and explore, but they also need a safe space to do it. Our new playground will be designed to encourage active play while keeping safety a priority. We want kids to test their limits, take safe risks, and develop confidence—all without unnecessary restrictions. Thoughtful design choices will allow for independent play while ensuring a secure environment where kids can challenge themselves without fear.
Unleashing Creativity and Imagination
The best playgrounds don’t just entertain; they inspire. Right now, our playground lacks features that ignite imagination, limiting how kids interact with the space. Our new design will change that by introducing structures that encourage storytelling, role-playing, and creative exploration. We want students to see the playground as more than just a place to run—it should be a world of possibilities.
Building Friendships and Social Skills
Playgrounds aren’t just about movement; they’re about connection. The right design can foster teamwork, cooperation, and friendship. By creating interactive play areas, we’ll give students natural opportunities to connect, communicate, and build important social skills. Whether it’s a game of tag, a turn-taking activity, or a shared imaginative adventure, the playground will be a place where friendships grow.
A Space for the Whole Community
We’re not just thinking about students—we’re thinking about everyone. A great playground brings families together, giving parents and kids a place to bond, play, and meet new people. This new space will be a hub for the neighborhood, strengthening our sense of community and offering a welcoming space for all.
Why Now?
Our current playground has served us well, but it’s time for an upgrade. It no longer meets modern safety standards, and it doesn’t align with the evolving needs of our students. By investing in a new, thoughtfully designed playground, we’re ensuring that future generations have a safe, engaging, and inspiring place to play.
